چکیده
Background: Medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is considered to be involved in human cognition mPFCin terms of learning and memory. Hypoxia one the crucial factors causing secondary damage incerebral hemorrhage traumatic brain injury. However, underlying mechanisms possibletherapeutic approach prevent neuronal has not been attempted yet. Therefore, present studyaimed investigate role Tualang honey on medial cortical morphology andcholinergic markers such as acetylcholine (ACh) acetylcholinesterase (AChE) following exposure normobaric hypoxia rats.
Material methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were dividedinto four groups: (i) sucrose treated non-hypoxia, (ii) hypoxia, (iii) honeytreated non-hypoxia (iv)Tualang hypoxia. Rats received (1 mL 7.9%) andTualang (0.2 g/kg), respectively, for 2 weeks prior exposure. Morphological study wasperformed by using Nissl staining cholinergic estimated ELISA technique.
Resultsand discussion: Sucrose group showed significantly lower mean ACh higher meanAChE concentrations (P<0.05) compared groups. Interestingly, mean concentration was increased AChE significantlydecreased hypoxic rats. Morphologicaldata that caused mPFC whereasTualang damage.
Conclusion: honeyprotects hypoxia-induced through improvement markersin exposed hypoxia.

Tualang Honey Attenuates Noise Stress-Induced Memory Deficits in Aged Rats
Ageing and stress exposure may lead to memory impairment while oxidative stress is thought to be one of the underlying mechanisms involved. This study aimed to investigate the potential protective effects of Tualang honey supplementation on memory performance in aged rats exposed to noise stress. Tualang honey supplementation was given orally, 200 mg/kg body weight for 28 days. Rats in the stre...
متن کاملMuscarinic receptor control of pyramidal neuron membrane potential in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) in rats.
Damage to the cholinergic input to the prefrontal cortex has been implicated in neuropsychiatric disorders. Cholinergic endings release acetylcholine, which activates nicotinic and/or G-protein-coupled muscarinic receptors. Muscarinic receptors activate transduction systems, which control cellular effectors that regulate the membrane potential in medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) neurons. The mec...
متن کاملMori cortex prevents kidney damage through inhibiting expression of inflammatory factors in the glomerulus in streptozocin-induced diabetic rats
Objective(s): It has been widely reported that Mori cortex extract (MCE) is used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in traditional medicine. The present study was designed to investigate its mechanism of action in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN). We assessed whether MCE preventive treatment ameliorates kidney damage in high-fat diet and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 2 diabeti...
متن کاملCholinergic modulation of the medial prefrontal cortex
About the cover: confocal microscopy picture illustrating the neurons of the medial prefron-tal cortex (in red) and the innervation by cells that produce acetylcholine (green). e main question that is dealt with in this thesis is how acetylcholine that is released in the mPFC aects processing in the circuits of the mPFC. Note that a very small population of mPFC neurons is capable of producing ...
متن کاملStereological study of the cerebral and cerebellar cortex following short time exposure to morphine in rats
Drug abuse has been claimed to cause the loss of neurons and reduction of volume in both the adult and developing brain. This study examined cortex volumes in cerebrum and cerebellum of male rats that were dependent on morphine using unbiased stereological counting methods and systematic random sampling technique. Our goal was to test whether short time exposure to morphine can affect the corte...
